I was intrigued by Martin Clarke's comments on drugs. One item which has rarely hit the headlines is that whilst drink and driving still cause of many road accidents including fatal one that drugs whilst not so important as a cause of fatal accidents is an increasing factor.
Should we not be trying to tackle this as a problem? A short while ago I was teaching a brain damaged boy who had suffered a near fatal accident because of drink driving 10 years previously . I wish that people who tell me that road safety is a boring subject would talk to the parents of the boy and perhaps they should be forced to help in the A and E department of the local hospital.
Perhaps minor offenders should have a punishment which fits the crime of having to help hospital cleaning particularly after the more gory accidents for a very long time
