I know little about Haiti but as an owner and founder of a Nairobi college in Kenya I know a little about third world poverty. As an author of 12 text books including 4 economics textbooks can I suggest that we go through the syndicalist route or similar rather than the traditional public sector / private route where many of us find ourselves alienated from the bureaucracy.
I see no reason why we could not produce educational courses for both people in the U.K. and Kenya if we used the talents of the many members who have expertise either in academic, writing, or possibly in administration or in doing graphic design. This could be done via Skype or emails etc which is cheap to do. We can produce even degree course much more cheaply if we can cooperate with each other and to provide them via the external degree route rather than the conventional one.
I would be very interested to hear from any other readers who are interested in the third world.
