Lib Dem MP Dan Rogerson accepts the petition from members of the FPOG
Members of the Five Parishes Opposition Group met with Lib Dem housing spokesman Dan Rogerson MP today 28/3/07, presented their 3,000 signature petition, and discussed their concerns over the Kent Science Park proposals.
The meeting had been re-arranged from earlier this month. Local Lib Dems Elvie Lowe, and Berick Tomes joined the group as they discussed their concerns at the plans for the expansion of the Science Park, a new Motorway link to the M2, and the plans for 4,500 new houses to fund the scheme.
Berick Tomes said, "The Five Parishes have made a compelling case against the expansion of the Science Park, and I have no hesitation in saying that I see no merit in these plans, and would not support them. I do not understand why the local Conservative controlled Council does not acknowledge that the local community is entirely opposed to the destruction of some much precious countryside and openly reject this development. I can only assume that the Conservatives on Swale are confident that this carries no electoral consequences for them, and I can only hope that they are mistaken."
