    In his keynote speech to the Liberal Democrat Conference, Party Leader and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has outlined his goals for the Government and the country over the coming years. He reiterated his commitment to liberal values on the environment and human rights and his determination to ensure a fair chance for every child, saying "every child can do good things, great things, if only we give them the opportunities they deserve."

    Coming to Federal Conference in Birmingham?

    South East Region has teamed up with South Central Region again to run a joint reception.

    The reception will be held on Sunday, 18 September, 18.15 - 19.30 pm in Jurys Inn - Room 102.

    A great way to start Conference by having a drink and a chat with MPs, MEPs and members from around both Regions.

    Liberal Democrat group leader Councillor Elvie Lowe has put jobs and local development at the top of the Liberal Democrats' agenda in Swale. Along with other local party leaders, Elvie was asked the following questions by the East Kent Gazette.

    Should the Northern Relief Road be linked to the A2?

    Of course this road should be completed. It is nonsense to have spent money on a road to nowhere. A bypass should take traffic away from the congested parts of town and anyone trying to get off the industrial estate and Great Easthall at rush hour will be able to testify to the congestion. We then need to minimise the impact on villages to the east.

    Keith Nevols, Membership Secretary of the Sittingbourne and Sheppey Liberal Democrats, has announced the first details of the local campaign for a Yes vote in the Alternative Vote referendum on 5 May.

    A stall will be set up in Sittingbourne High Street on Saturday 12 March, with an additional stall in Sheerness at a date yet to be confirmed, where materials will be available and questions can be answered
